Marlena Celeste Mattfeld
1996-2007

"I'm not really a royal princess... but I hope you enjoy spending time with me in this fairy-tale land!"

But our princess she was indeed and one we all adored!

Marlena died Monday August 13, 2007 from injuries received in a tragic accident the previous Friday while riding her skateboard.

A note from Marlena's family:

"Our deepest thanks to each and every one of our friends and family for your love and embraces. Your cards, gifts and dedication gestures have filled our hearts. We plan to celebrate Marlena's beautiful life in our future. For now, thank you for allowing us time to find peace and to reconnect with each other as we prepare for the unimaginable task of moving forward.
It comforts us to know that Marlena shared so many special moments with so many powerful people.
With all of our love,
Ken, Shelley and Perry

In memory of the children - the ones not with us long,
the ones who stole our hearts, but left us with a song.
They play now in our dreams. Their laughter lingers on.
We held them only moments and still feel them though they’re gone.
   Whisper the name, Marlena,
   our dancer on the wind,
an angel in the heavens, borne high on golden wings.
   Whisper Marlena,
then dry away your tears -
for her smile shines down upon us, bright forever through the years.
It may be the same sun that rises every day,
but it shines upon a strange world when children go away.
A world without the children, the home they've left behind,
is brightened only by the star that glows within our mind.
   Whisper the name, Marlena,
   our dancer on the wind,
an angel in the heavens, borne high on golden wings.
   Whisper Marlena,
then dry away your tears -
for her smile shines all around us, bright forever through the years.
